83. SEO Strategy: These Three Categories are ALL You Need to Boost Traffic
Welcome to this “mini Masterclass” episode with guest Steve Wiideman, where he walks you through the three main categories of SEO strategy that will boost your agency website. Learn the tools and techniques necessary to create a twelve month plan to rank for competitive keywords and start getting more website visits and inquiries–with more resources in one episode than ever.
3 Key Takeaways
- Improve user behavior signals by having a call to action, keyword, and unique selling proposition in the title tag.
- Become more visible off the website by having other websites link to yours. This is known as off-page ranking and works off the concept of a voting system.
- Gain more relevancy by answering a common customer problem–one problem per web page–on your site.

[00:01:40] - Steve is a scientist and a practitioner of local and ecommerce search engine optimization and paid search advertising. He's the author of SEO Strategy and Skills.
[00:06:31] - The biggest traffic driver is always going to be organic. Paid advertising allows you to see specific information about people who are coming to the website.
[00:09:19] - There's really only three components you have to pay attention to. One is how relevant the content is to the user who's performing the search. Two is visibility. Three is how users are interacting with your listing. If you're not paying attention to those three areas, your rankings might never happen.
[00:19:00] - The next part and probably the most challenging is going to be the content strategy. Make sure that the type of content that you're using is as good or better than competing pages. If you’re targeting a local area, make sure that local area is part of your entire content strategy.
[00:29:05] - Look at the quality, quantity, and velocity of the ratings and reviews that you get in. You can be doing good at getting reviews but still sit below the rising velocity of competitors. Focus on this each month, and always beat competitors.
[00:31:15] - Agents can do a better job of simply solving people's problems. Steve suggests using answerthepublic.com or reaching out to your current customers.
[00:35:09] - Steve answers the questions from AGA’s rapid fire round. Get your pencils ready for some invaluable resources!
[00:42:21] - The best thing to do is talk to someone with a few decades of experience about search engine optimization. Steve offers a free course to listeners (included in the resources section).
